The Nanny Cam Caught My Stepmother Shoving Zoe — Then Bella Did Something No One Expected — Part 2 of 3
By WixForum KitchenPublished

The Collar Cam That Revealed a Darker Secret
Arthur's mind raced, a thousand thoughts colliding in the span of a heartbeat. He had to think. He had to act. But the image on the screen—his own face, frozen at the top of those stairs—was a ghost he couldn't shake.
"That's not me," he said, but even as the words left his mouth, he knew they sounded hollow. The footage was clear. The timestamp was exact.
Katrina laughed, a cold, brittle sound that echoed off the exposed brick walls. "Oh, Arthur. You've been lying to yourself for so long, you've started to believe it. But the camera doesn't lie."
Zoe buried her face in Bella's fur, her small shoulders shaking. Bella stood firm, her tail low, her eyes never leaving Katrina.
"I didn't push her," Arthur said, his voice cracking. "I found her at the bottom of the stairs. I called 911. I tried to save her."
"Save her?" Katrina sneered. "You were the last one to see her alive. And now I have proof."
Arthur's hands were shaking. He set the tablet down on the changing table, afraid he might drop it. "Why are you doing this?"
"Because you never loved me," Katrina said, her voice suddenly quiet, almost tender. "You loved her. And when she died, you only kept me around for the convenience. But I'm done being convenient."
She took a step toward the door, her heels clicking against the wood. "I've already sent a copy of this footage to my lawyer. By tomorrow morning, you'll be arrested for murder."
Arthur felt the ground shift beneath him. He had been so careful. So meticulous. He had checked every angle, covered every trace. But he had never checked Bella's collar.
"Wait," he said, his voice desperate. "Wait. Let me explain."
"Explain what?" Katrina said, pausing at the threshold. "That you're a killer? I've known that since the day we met."
Zoe looked up, her eyes red and swollen. "Daddy, what is she talking about?"
Arthur's heart broke. He knelt down and pulled Zoe into his arms, Bella pressing close beside them. "I didn't hurt your mommy, sweetheart. I promise."
"But the camera—" Zoe started.
"The camera shows me at the stairs," Arthur said, his voice thick. "But it doesn't show everything. It doesn't show what happened before. It doesn't show who else was there."
Katrina froze. Her smile faltered. "What are you talking about?"
Arthur stood, his eyes hard. "I wasn't alone that day. I was chasing someone. Someone who ran up the stairs and locked the door behind them. Someone who knew exactly what they were doing."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. "I've been investigating my wife's death for a year. I found a witness. A neighbor who saw a woman in a red dress leaving our house that afternoon."
Katrina's face went white. "You're lying."
"Am I?" Arthur said, stepping closer. "You wore that same red dress to the funeral. I remember because it was the only color in the room."
Zoe gasped. Bella growled low in her throat.
"You killed my wife," Arthur said, his voice rising. "And then you married me to get closer to my money. But you never counted on Bella. You never counted on the dog."
Katrina's composure shattered. She stumbled backward, her hand grasping for the doorframe. "You can't prove anything."
"I don't have to," Arthur said. "Because the collar cam recorded everything. Every moment. Every word. And it's all backed up to the cloud."
He tapped his phone, and the screen showed a live feed from Bella's collar. The timestamp rolled back to that fateful afternoon. Katrina's voice echoed through the nursery: "Just a little push, and she'll be gone."
Katrina screamed. She lunged for the phone, but Bella was faster. The dog stepped between them, her body a wall of muscle and fur.
"Get out," Arthur said, his voice cold as stone. "Get out of my house."
Katrina looked at him, at Zoe, at the dog. Then she turned and fled, her heels clattering down the stairs.
Arthur sank to his knees, pulling Zoe and Bella into his arms. The rain had stopped, and the first rays of sunlight broke through the clouds.
"It's over," he whispered. "It's finally over."
But even as he said it, he knew it wasn't. Because Katrina would be back. And this time, she'd bring the police.
